Local 33G was established in 1941 and became affiliated with the Grain Millers International Union in 1948. Our latest transformation came in 1999 when we merged with the Bakery, Confectionery, and Tobacco Workers International Union to become Bakery, Confectionary, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers Local 33G.
We have approximately 514 members in three plants (General Mills Pillsbury, Sonoco Products Co., and Kent Feeds Inc.). We have had six presidents during our existence. Charles E. Mingus held the position the longest, with a tenure of twenty-nine years (1963-1992). The Union Hall, located in Clarksville, IN is named in his honor.
